HomeCare Advocacy Network and ABHM Announce New Franchise Partnership

(OMAHA, Neb.) — The HomeCare Advocacy Network (HCAN) and American Baptist Homes of the Midwest (ABHM) have teamed up to launch a new service line designed to successfully deliver in-home care to ABHM’s current residents and seniors in surrounding communities.
“We are thrilled to welcome American Baptist Homes of the Midwest into the HCAN family,” said Mark Goetz, president and CEO of HCAN. “The ABHM leadership team truly understands the changing senior care landscape and they know that adding home care will give them an opportunity to expand their mission and serve more seniors. We look forward to helping them bridge the gaps that exist between community care and home care, so they can successfully launch this new line of business.”
As a franchise partner, HCAN experts will provide the training, structure and system support needed to establish and build a home care line that’s separate but complementary to the organization’s current service offerings. The model also allows ABHM to extend services off-campus - establishing relationships with seniors and families early on and, as care needs increase, paving the way for eventual transition to an ABHM community.
In operation for more than 85 years, ABHM is a nonprofit organization that currently provides care to more than 1,300 residents in seven Midwestern senior living communities. Initially, it will offer in-home services through its location in Muskego, Wisconsin - Tudor Oaks Senior Living Community.
With HCAN’s business format franchising partnership, the trusted Tudor Oaks brand will remain at the forefront - something ABHM officials say is incredibly important as they begin competing with, instead of partnering with, other home care agencies.
“The ability to keep our brand front and center is a huge marketing advantage. Our name is well known in the community, and we believe seniors will like the fact that their care is coming from a reputable nonprofit organization,” said Jeff Hongslo, CEO of ABHM. “Home care is something we’ve discussed for several years, and the opportunity to partner with HCAN, along with expanding market need, made the timing perfect. Although we’re experts in senior living, home care is a different model. A partner like HCAN can help us develop and maintain a home care division and ensure we provide seniors with the best possible care.”
Ideally, ABHM officials hope to develop three additional markets over the next two years.
“It’s important to adapt to the changing environment,” Hongslo said. “There will always be a need for senior living and home care. We’re focusing on the needs of our current and future residents and how we can best serve them.”
